Second day in Turkey, we flew to visit Cappadocia for a day to explore the city that make up of volcanic ashes and erupted materials. It was extraordinary to see what nature can create. The city reminds me a lot of small town in my home country, where is not over populated. Cappadocia is full of history and cultural aspects to it. And again people that I have met were very friendly, which made my experience even more pleasant.
The first place we visited in Cappadocia is the valley that form into what calls a “fairy chimney” through the process of erosion for millions of years. It was an impressive view from above, the formations create different shapes and some have shapes like mushroom, or fish or frog, but different people have different imagination, as you know we’re all different and have our own unique thinking. We then continue on along the valley to see more rock formations, and caves that was built by the locals in the past. After the valleys, we visit the pottery village to learn about the making of pottery, this place was special as the owner is considered to be the Einstein of pottery making, he even received some Guinness world records for the pottery that he made. Afterwards, we off to lunch before visiting the largest church area, with school for Christianity education in the past. They are no longer in used, but the place is recognised as world heritages by UNESCO. Then we visit a place that calls a castle, but before that we stopped by the top of the city to see the panoramic view of the city. Here we can see more rock formations and houses in the city, some caves but people don’t live there anymore. After seeing the castle, we off to the airport to fly back to Istanbul.
It was a full day of touring in Cappadocia from 9am to 5pm, the schedule was very tight as I had to leave Istanbul at 7am to arrive in time for the tour.
I survived with just 3 hours of sleep again, but I was so tired by the time the tour was over. I absolutely had no energy left and I couldn’t wait to just get back to the hotel for some quality sleep. But we had to go to get some dinner first, we visited this restaurant that was ranked no.1 on trip advisor, the kebab was so good, the best I had ever have really.
